Gus is a Director in Portland’s Public Affairs and Policy team, specialising in local government, media, sport and Labour Party engagement. She advises international clients on navigating the UK’s political landscape, with particular expertise in highly regulated sectors including transport and energy.
A former journalist, Gus also counsels clients on media strategy and messaging, helping shape content that resonates with political audiences.
Before joining Portland, she worked with Labour Mayor Steve Rotheram at the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. She led Whitehall engagement and negotiated high-stakes government funding; her work helped secure multi-million pound transport packages and an Investment Zone. Prior to that, she worked in-house at the Football Association, securing grassroots football funding and advising senior leadership on political engagement.
Gus began her career on the New Statesman editorial staff, where she covered policy across finance, energy and housing.
At Portland, she brings a blend of policy fluency, political insight and communications expertise, making her a trusted advisor for clients operating across local and national politics, media and regulated markets.
