Diplomatic engagement is shifting. Technology is reconfiguring traditional government-to-government engagement to include government-to-people and more people-to-people diplomatic relationships.
In our networked world, many countries have moved from a reactive to a more proactive and interactive diplomatic strategy. Diplomats use the digital landscape to initiate discussions with global participants at all levels. Traditional boardroom diplomacy is now complemented by and made more transparent through digital connections and online conversations. Large and small states, regional sub-states, independent organisations, and non-state actors can now more readily articulate their diplomatic vision and make their voices heard.
