Portland Brussels is delighted to publish its report Challenges and Chances for the EU: From 2025 to 2030, a tour d’horizon into European Union policy.
In the report our team predicts that in the next five years:
  • While the EU will not scrape already agreed targets, there will be some easing of the 2035 ban on selling internal combustion engines.
  • The EU will invest heavily in a stronger European electricity grid and make deals with African and South American countries to source raw materials.
  • Following up on the Draghi report on competitiveness, the European Health Data Space and the Savings and Investments Union will be implemented but the Digital Decade goals not fully reached.
As Brussels President David Earnshaw notes in the report, Portland believes that in 2025-2030 “it will be business as usual for the EU” on many policy areas despite the substantial impact of US trade decisions.
